About Dr. Stern & Foot Consult
Dr. Stern is a podiatric foot specialist who has been in active clinical practice since 1980 following a surgical residency in Detroit, Michigan. He is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) and the Michigan Podiatric Medical Association (MPMA). Dr. Stern served as a podiatric medical consultant for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan from 2002 to 2005 and has treated over 47,000 patients throughout his 44-year career.
As a state-approved preceptor who has trained numerous rising podiatric practitioners, Dr. Stern has dedicated over 35 years specifically to studying and treating complex heel pain syndromes. He frequently writes, lectures, and holds patents for hybrid custom orthotic solutions designed to solve refractory heel pain. His extensive experience has successfully helped thousands of patients avoid unnecessary surgeries on their feet, ankles, knees, and lower back.
Throughout his surgical career, Dr. Stern has performed thousands of procedures ranging from simple skin excisions and forefoot/rearfoot reconstructive surgeries to complex Achilles tendon graft repairs, fracture repair, and total ankle replacements. Today, he focuses on performing comprehensive second opinions, surgical reviews, and Impartial Medical Evaluations (IMEs).
